Graduate Registration
Students register using the University's information system. Graduate students need the following to access the registration system:
- Username or Eagle Number
- Password
Graduate students in degree programs must register each semester until they graduate. If you find that you cannot continue in the spring semester, you should apply for a leave of absence with your dean. You may complete听the online Withdrawal/Leave of Absence Form found on the Academic Forms web page.

Full-Time Enrollment Status
Graduate full-time enrollment is as follows:
- Carroll School of Management鈥9 or more credits
- Connell School of Nursing鈥9 or more credits
- Graduate School of the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences鈥9 or more credits
- School of Social Work鈥9 or more credits
- Law School鈥12 or more credits
- Lynch School of Education and Human Development鈥9 or more credits
- Clough School of Theology and Ministry鈥9 or more credits
- Woods College of Advancing Studies鈥9 or more credits
All students are considered half-time with six credits.
Students completing degree requirements in their final semester may be given exceptions to the school鈥檚 minimum credit standard for full-time status by their academic dean.
The credit amount listed above is used to determine a student鈥檚 enrollment status for loan deferments, immunizations, medical insurance requirements, and verifications requested by other organizations.
Graduate schools may also define full-time status by a student鈥檚 course work or role responsibilities as listed below:
- Students in the Law School may, in extraordinary circumstances and with the permission of the Dean for Academic Affairs, enroll in听fewer than 12 credits in a semester and be considered full-time.
- All doctoral students in the Graduate School of the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences are full-time. Master's students are full-time if they are Graduate Assistants for academic departments, Teaching Fellows, Teaching Assistants, or Research Assistants.
- All doctoral candidates in the Carroll School of Management are full-time. Master's candidates may be given exceptions to the school minimum credit standard for full-time status by their academic dean in exceptional situations.
- Graduate students in the Lynch School of Education and Human Development are full-time if they are enrolled in: APSY7660, APSY7661, APSY7940, APSY7941, APSY7950, APSY7951, APSY8100, APSY8101, APSY9846, APSY9849, APSY9901, APSY9911, APSY9941, APSY9988, EDUC7420, EDUC7610, EDUC7901, EDUC8100, EDUC8101, EDUC9951, EDUC9988, ELHE7807, ELHE7900, ELHE7902, ELHE7952, ELHE8100, ELHE8101, ELHE9901, ELHE9911, ELHE9988, MESA8100, MESA8101, MESA9941. Doctoral students are considered full-time if they are Graduate Assistants for academic departments, Teaching Fellows, or Research Assistants.
- Graduate students in the School of Social Work are full-time if enrolled in SCWK9959 Doctoral Publishable Paper Writing Project, SCWK9966 Publishable Paper Continuation, SCWK9994 Integrative Dissertation Seminar, SCWK9995/SCWK9996 Dissertation Direction, SCWK9911 Doctoral Continuation, SCWK9929/SCWK9939/SCWK9949 Field Continuation.
- Graduate students in the Connell School of Nursing are full-time if enrolled in NURS7102, NURS8004, NURS8006, NURS8008, NURS8010, NURS8011, NURS8012, NURS9819, NURS9821, NURS9823, NURS9825, NURS9827, NURS9829, NURS9831, NURS9833, NURS9835, NURS9837, NURS9839, NURS9841, NURS9843, NURS9845, NURS9847, NURS9849, NURS9851, NURS9853, NURS9855, NURS9857, NURS9859, NURS9901, NURS9902, NURS9903, NURS9904, NURS9906, NURS9908, NURS9910, or NURS9911.听
- Graduate students in the Clough School of Theology and Ministry are full time if enrolled in 鈥婽MST8014, TMST8053, TMST8054, TMST8101, TMST8526, TMST8528, TMST8529, TMST8530, TMST8543, TMST8546, TMST9901, or TMST9911. 鈥婱TS students can enroll in either TMST8053 (MTS Thesis) or TMST8014 (MTS Reflection Paper) in the last semester and should be considered full-time. Doctoral students are considered full-time if they are Graduate Assistants for academic departments, Teaching Fellows, or Research Assistants.
Doctoral Continuation
Students whose departments require permission need to obtain an override for Doctoral Continuation and process it in the Office of Student Services.
Registration Holds
You may have a hold on your registration for a number听of reasons, but the two main causes are having an outstanding balance on your student account or failing to submit proof of immunization to the Health Services Office. If you have a hold on your registration, you must see the appropriate office (Outstanding Balance鈥擲tudent Services, Immunization鈥擧ealth Services, etc.) to resolve the situation before you can register.

Closed and Restricted Courses
Students may go to the department that offers a course that requires permission, is closed, or is restricted. The department will do one of the following: decline permission, add the course to your schedule at that time, or provide you with a stamped override form that you should bring to Student Services, where the staff will add the course to your schedule.
Pass/Fail Courses
Eligible students may sign-up to take a course pass/fail through www.bc.edu/myservices at the time they register. To declare a course pass/fail in the School of Social Work, contact Liz Cinquino at 617-552-2610. CSTM students should contact Donna Derosa at 617-552-8440. Students in CGSOM, CGSON, GSMCAS, Lynch grad, and WGCAS may not take a course counting toward the degree pass/fail.
Credit Variation
If you need to change the number of credits for a course, pick up a Graduate Credit Variation form from the Office of Student Services. Have the form approved by the Associate Dean of your school before the graduate drop/add deadline. Deadlines can be found on the Academic Calendar.
After the deadline, bring the form to the Office of Student Services and pay for the additional credits.
Auditing a Course
Students in the Graduate School of the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences, the Clough School of Theology and Ministry, and the Connell School of Nursing may register for an audit online. Lynch School of Education and Human Development, Carroll School of Management, Law School, and School of Social Work students must consult the Graduate Associate Dean鈥檚 Office before they can audit a course. Woods College of Advancing Studies students may not audit courses.
After the drop/add period (during the first seven class days of the semester), graduate students who wish to change a course from credit to audit or audit to credit must go to their respective Graduate Associate Dean鈥檚 Office and complete a Graduate Course Exception form. Students in the Carroll School of Management may change a course from credit to audit, but not audit to credit.
After the drop/add deadline,听graduate students who wish to change a course from credit to audit or audit to credit must go to the Associate Dean鈥檚 Office and complete a 鈥淕raduate Course Exception鈥 form. Students in the Carroll School of Management, Graduate Programs may change a course from credit to audit but not audit to credit. You may not drop an audit after听the drop/add deadline.听There is no cancellation of tuition for a course changed from credit to audit. Disability Services Office
Services for undergraduate and graduate students with hearing, visual, mobility, medical, psychiatric, and temporary disabilities are coordinated through Rory Stein, the Assistant Dean for Students with Disabilities. Academic support services provided to students who provide appropriate documentation are individualized and may include, but are not limited to, sign language interpreters, CART services, electronic textbooks, extended time on exams, alternate testing locations, facilitation of program modification, course under-loads, readers, scribes, and note-takers. The Assistant Dean works with each student individually to determine the appropriate accommodations necessary for the student鈥檚 full participation in college programs and activities. Special Students
Graduate students including those using teaching vouchers who are not currently in a md传媒国产剧 College degree program and who want to take graduate level courses must apply as special students to the appropriate graduate school. Student teaching vouchers should be sent to the Lynch Graduate Office at the time of registration in Campion 135.
