History
The growth of the University's student population during the 1960s convinced Athletic Director William J. Flynn that a recreational space for students and employees of md传媒国产剧 College was sorely needed. He suggested a $25 student recreation fee to help finance the project, and md传媒国产剧 College borrowed the necessary funds to complete it. The Flynn Recreation Complex opened in March 1972 and was dedicated to Flynn in 1979. Architect Daniel Tully designed the building in the shape of a hyperbolic parabloid, creating an easily recognizable roofline on campus.
The Margot Connell Recreation Center, opened in 2019, is named in honor of one of BC's most generous benefactors. This 244,000 square-foot, four-story facility includes a fitness center, rock climbing wall, jogging track, aquatics center, wood-floor basketball courts, tennis courts, multi-activity courts, multi-purpose rooms for spin, yoga, and fitness classes, and more.
