What Is FACHEX?

Established by the Conference of Academic Vice Presidents of the 聽in 1971, FACHEX is an acronym for Faculty, Administrator, and Staff Children Exchange.

FACHEX is an undergraduate tuition remission program for children of current full-time faculty, administrators, and staff. Through the FACHEX program, employees who have a tuition remission benefit for their children at their home institution can apply to receive consideration for the same benefit at participating Jesuit colleges and universities, should the student meet that school's requirements for FACHEX applicants and there is space available. It is important to realize, however, that聽FACHEX awards tend to be extremely limited in number, and highly competitive in terms of academic selectivity. As a result, there are NO guarantees to the children of any given faculty or staff member that they will be able to utilize the FACHEX benefit at the institution of their choice.

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements are determined by the home institution. In general, if the home institution grants a full tuition remission benefit to the child of a faculty or staff member, then the child is eligible to apply for a possible FACHEX award at the participating Jesuit institution(s) of their choice by being certified in the Tuition Exchange Database as FACHEX eligible by their home institution.聽 It is important to realize, however, that聽each institution聽sets their own rules about how students are selected for a FACHEX award and it is the parent's responsibility to research what is required and follow any applicable deadlines/policies.聽聽Many schools use academic achievement as a determining factor, and will only consider incoming first-year applicants.

At md传媒国产剧 College, an employee must have completed at least five (5) years of continuous full-time service to be considered eligible to apply for FACHEX at other participating institutions.

Benefits & Restrictions

  • FACHEX (if granted) only covers four (4) years of continuous full-time undergraduate study during the traditional fall and spring semesters.聽 It is not available for part-time study or for individual course remuneration.

  • If a child is granted a FACHEX award at a participating institution, the parent is expected to maintain their respective employment and FACHEX eligibility at their home institution. Should a parent terminate their employment and/or subsequently fail to maintain FACHEX eligibility at their home institution, the student鈥檚 FACHEX award will be terminated by the participating institution.

  • FACHEX (if granted) only covers tuition. Any additional expenses incurred by the student such as room, board, university fees, travel-related expenses, or books are the sole responsibility of the student and/or the student's family.

Availability

Each participating institution determines the number of FACHEX聽awards it will grant to incoming students each year, as well as the selection procedure.聽As a general rule, these positions are extremely limited in number and are highly competitive in terms of both availability and academic selectivity.

As stated above, there are no guarantees to the children of any given faculty or staff member that they will be able to utilize the FACHEX benefit at the institution of their choice.
