Profile

Claire Donohue currently serves as Associate Dean for Experiential Learning. She joined md传媒国产剧 College Law School in 2018 as an assistant clinical professor in the Center for Experiential Learning, where she coordinates social work services. Her teaching incorporates social work methodology and theory with legal theory and practice.

Before joining BC Law, Donohue was a practitioner in residence at American University鈥檚 Washington College of Law. She directed the Domestic Violence Clinic and taught students with a docket of family law, civil protection orders, victim witness advocacy, and immigration cases. Donohue was also a Friedman Fellow with the Family Justice Litigation Clinic and the George Washington University School of Law, where she earned an L.L.M. and guided students through family law and domestic violence law practice. She also served as a part-time faculty member in the Criminal Justice Department of Montgomery College.

Prior to her career in clinical legal education, Donohue worked as a public defender. She first worked with the Committee for Public Counsel Services in Massachusetts and then accepted appointments on post-conviction appeals outside of Massachusetts and in the District of Columbia.

Donohue earned her J.D. as a Public Interest Scholar and a dual M.S.W. degree from md传媒国产剧 College. During this time, she was a project coordinator for an emerging program of interdisciplinary legal services at the Community Legal Services and Counseling Center in Cambridge, MA. She also served on the editorial staff of the听Third World Law Journal听(eventually renamed the听Journal of Law and Social Policy) at md传媒国产剧 College Law School. Upon graduation, Donohue worked as a judicial law clerk for the Superior Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
