Kathleen Flinton joined the faculty of the md´«Ã½¹ú²ú¾ç College School of Social Work in July 2020 as an assistant professor of clinical practice. She comes from the md´«Ã½¹ú²ú¾ç University School of Social Work, where she served as a lecturer and the director of the Post-graduate Certificate inÌýthe Treatment of Trauma.

Flinton has worked with survivors of trauma for more than 20 years. Her expertise lies in cross cultural trauma treatment with a specialization in working with refugees and asylum seekers. In addition to teaching, Flinton maintains a private practice in which she provides therapy to survivors of torture and trafficking, clinical supervision, and consultation.Ìý

Flinton previously served as the associate clinical director at the md´«Ã½¹ú²ú¾ç Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights at md´«Ã½¹ú²ú¾ç Medical Center. She has postgraduate training in EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and maternal mental health; has been named a national expert in the treatment of torture by the Tulane University Traumatology Institute; and is a qualified expert witness in federal immigration court.

She holds a BA from Vassar College, an MSW from Simmons School of Social Work, and an MAR from Yale Divinity School.Ìý
