Biography

Born in Odessa, Ukraine, Lyubov Shlain studied with Inna Slesareva and Eleonor Levinson, both distinguished pianist and pedagogues. Beginning a teaching career at age 17, she has served as a faculty member of well-known music school in Odessa for gifted and talented children.

Before her immigration to the United States in 1979, Ms. Shlain performed with various chamber groups and singers throughout the former Soviet Union. She continued her studies with Thomas Stumpf at the New England Conservatory of Music where she received her master鈥檚 in Piano Performance and later was a student of Boris Berman.

Her musical life has been highlighted by performances throughout new England area with such eminent musicians as Yuri Mazurkevich, Anton Belov and others. As a member of piano Trio and Piano Duo, ms. Shlain has given recitals in Jordan Hall, Pickman Hall, Killian Hall at MIT, Gasson Hall at the Museum of Fine Arts, at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

Ms. Shlain has been a member of the faculties at md传媒国产剧 College since 2006 and Longy School of Music from 1990 to 2013.
