Profile

Brian JM Quinn is a professor at md传媒国产剧 College Law School. For three years, he served as BC Law鈥檚 Associate Dean for Experiential Learning. His research focuses on corporate law, mergers & acquisitions, the structuring of transactions, transactional law, and private ordering. He teaches Corporations, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Venture Capital: Financing the Start Up Enterprise. He has previously taught 1L Contracts, Deals: The Economic Structure of Transactions, Amicus Brief Clinic as well as the Corporate Counsel Externship Seminar.听Quinn received the Professor Emil Slizewski Award for Faculty Excellence in 2011 and the Provost鈥檚 TWIN Award for the use of new technology in teaching in 2012. He has received ATAB grants to support the development of online course modules and experimentation with blended learning in the law school environment.

Quinn鈥檚 work has appeared in numerous journals, including the听UC Davis Law Review,听University of Cincinnati Law Review,听Journal of Corporation Law, Marquette Law Review, University of Richmond Law Review, the Harvard Business Law Review Online, and听Delaware Journal of Corporate Law, among others. He is the co-author of a leading M&A casebook,(West Academic) with Steven Davidoff Solomon and Claire Hill. He is also co-author of a leading corporate law casebook, (9th Ed.) (Aspen) with John C. Coffee and Ronald J. Gilson. Quinn is also author of an open-source corporate law casebook,听听(Harvard Library Innovation Lab).

Quinn is regularly cited in the media for his legal analysis and commentary on current merger transaction deal developments.

A fluent Vietnamese speaker, Quinn was the resident director for the Fulbright Economics Teaching Program in Ho Chi Minh City from 1994-2000. Until 2018, Prof. Quinn served as a founding board member for the Trust for University Innovation in Vietnam, the sponsoring entity for the Fulbright University of Vietnam, a private non-profit liberal arts university in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Prior to joining BC Law, Quinn served as a teaching fellow for corporate governance and practice at Stanford Law School. He also worked in private practice with Cooley Godward in Palo Alto, where he represented public and private technology clients in merger and acquisitions transactions. He previously served as Country Coordinator for the Harvard University鈥檚 Institute for International Development, managing Harvard鈥檚 Vietnam-based teaching and research activities. Quinn began his legal career as a legislative aide to Senator Edward M. Kennedy, working on health and education issues.
